She earned the nickname "The Velvet Hammer" during her Executive MBA program for her ability to balance toughness with grace—a name that has carried through into the business world today. Merrique is a highly accomplished business consultant with expertise in digital marketing, strategic planning, and change management in today’s post-COVID economy.​

With over a decade of experience in business administration, she has worked with major players across Canada and the United States and led global initiatives, including ventures into the Vietnam market. Her diverse portfolio spans industries such as tourism, broadcasting, tech, and beauty, where her exceptional strategic planning and attention to detail have delivered significant value. Merrique’s sense of humour, high emotional intelligence, and commitment to high-touch client relationships make her an authentic and trusted force within the industry.​

Merrique holds an Executive MBA from the Telfer School of Management and is renowned for her honest and direct approach to aligning analytical thinking with business objectives. She thrives on cultivating productive internal and external relationships and succeeds through collaboration and strategic partnerships. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Merrique is committed to healthy active living, event planning, and spending time with her 8-year-old son, Zaythan. Her determination to shatter the stigma surrounding her son’s non-verbal autism diagnosis has fueled her advocacy for initiatives supporting individuals with special needs and developmental delays. This passion led her to join the Board of Directors for Journey House, a Canadian charity dedicated to empowering young adults with developmental disabilities by providing them with the skills and opportunities needed to live more independently. Merrique continues to champion inclusion and meaningful change in both her personal and professional life.
